feng shui halloween: whats hiding in your closet and under your bed?

The leaves are changing and the air is getting cooler. It's officially fall, which means it's time for a fresh start! This is the perfect time to declutter your home and get rid of any negative energy. Today we're going to talk about how to use feng shui to clean out your closets and under your bed.

Closets can be a catch-all for everything from clothes to holiday decorations. But did you know that they can also be a breeding ground for negative energy? Clutter in your closet can block your ability to attract positive things into your life. So this fall, take some time to go through your closet and get rid of anything you don't need.

Let's talk about your closet real quick

  • Is the DOOR CREAKY? Does it get jammed when you try to open it?

  • Are things creeping in the back of your closet?

  • Do you know what lies beneath your feet?

  • Is there a danger of something falling onto your head?

  • Is it dark, and scary?

Closets don't need to be scary, I promise! By clearing out some things you don't need, and doing some minor repairs, you can become happy every time you open those doors. Try tossing out 9 items in your closet each day for 3 days, or if you’re on a roll, try doing it for 9 days! And don’t fill it up with new stuff either - instead of buying new stuff, try getting a full set of matching hangers instead and see how that feels. And don’t be afraid of minor repairs, I know you can change a lightbulb and spray some WD40 like a champ, and the results will be awesome. One last tip: if you can clear up some space on the floor of your closet, or the top shelf, you’ll be sure to notice that things in your life start to flow and become less “stuck”.

Under your bed is another place where negative energy can build up.  If you haven't been sleeping well and you feel like a walking zombie this Halloween, consider clearing out underneath your bed. This will help create a more positive and productive space - and most importantly - a more restful sleep. The only items you want under your bed are sleep related items, such as bed linens. So, relocate any emotionally charged or high-energy items, such as running shoes and keepsake boxes, and get that good sleep you’ve been dying for.

So there you have it, a few easy tips to use feng shui to declutter your home this fall. Get rid of anything that's no longer serving you, and make way for positive change.  If you find yourself afraid to look under your bed and in your closet, schedule a friendly call with me and I will hold your hand throughout the process.  You'll be feeling brave and refreshed for the holidays!
