what is a feng shui crystal?
Are you wondering what a feng shui crystal ball is, and where to hang it, you’ve come to the right place. Here I’ll tell you all about them and show you how I personally like to hang them.
In feng shui, when we refer to the Feng Shui crystal we are not talking about natural stones such as quartz, amethyst and black tourmaline (although we sometimes use these too). A Feng Shui crystal generally refers to a faceted, man-made, crystal sphere. The kind that makes rainbows. It’s typically around 40mm in diameter, and hung from the ceiling by a red string cut to a length of 9 or 18 inches. (Red and the number 9 are considered lucky in feng shui.)

There are many reasons a feng shui practitioner might recommend hanging a feng shui crystal ball in your home. The best location will depend on your unique floor plan and situation. That said, here are a few ideas for working with feng shui crystal balls.
hang a feng shui crystal ball in your entryway
When the energy comes through your front entrance, and then it hits a hanging prism, the energy is brightly spread all throughout the space. It doesn’t rush up the stairs, it doesn’t rush out the back, and it also doesn’t get stuck! Imagine, all the energy and opportunities flowing into your bright entry, and being expanded throughout your space. The energy and vibrations are lifted higher, towards the the crystal prism hanging from the ceiling. And it transmutes negative energy into positivity.

Feng Shui practitioners like to map a room into a 9-square grid (called a Bagua) and each of the 9 areas (called Guas) correspond to a different area of life. Hang the prism in the areas that you wish to enhance. For example, if you are looking to improve your partnerships, place crystals in the far right- back area of your home. A strong and healthy center can create a solid foundation for all aspects of your life, so this is a good place to start if you’re not sure where to focus. Hanging a feng shui crystal ball in the center of your home or room positively affects all parts of your life. Because the center of the feng shui bagua 9-square grid touches all of the areas around it, and activating this area brings light and energy to them all.
I can’t hang a crystal ball in the center of my home, but each bedroom in my house has a ceiling fan in the center of the ceiling, so I’ve hung a faceted ball in each bedroom to activate the center gua, strengthening our foundation and enhancing our wellness in our intimate spaces.
in your home office
I have crystal prisms hanging in my office from the center of the ceiling as I described above. Other areas you could hang a prism in your office is directly above your head (make sure its fastened tight!) if you wold like to cultivate more clarity and focus in your work and career. Or you can hang it in between you and the door if your head is aligned with the door, and you feel the energy is moving too fast and needs to be slowed down.
long hallway adjustments
In nature, a meandering river is better than a long straight line because the energy otherwise rushes through too quickly. In feng shui, long hallways can present challenges because Qi rushes through them quickly, whereas we want it to move more slowly and collect in a home so that it can benefit the people living there. If you do have a long hallway in your home, it can be helpful to hang a feng shui crystal from the ceiling. This disperses the qi so that it doesn’t rush straight through.
How do you hang a Feng Shui crystal?
